About

This bio and site are a work in progress. Then again, so am I.
I’ve been a professional writer for the better part of 23 years, which is both an achievement and a gift. Writing is my passion, my purpose and my most marketable skill.
I scale it across numerous industries, from entertainment to real estate marketing. Sometimes I thrive, and other times I struggle to stay afloat. I’m grateful to have an array of complementary skills that help me leverage the writing thing, to use some business lingo.
What I do best – what seems to touch the most people and evoke the most powerful responses – is creative nonfiction. My life has been and continues to be an amusement park of experiences (some more amusing than others). And my if-you-can’t-fix-it-feature-it personality trait of oversharing and of speaking truth to power/weakness/absurdity/everything else allows me to communicate those experiences in a way that I hope resonates with readers. My aim is always to find the universal in the specific. My experience is that the more honest I am, the more readers can relate, and at best – this is a big AND – they begin forgiving themselves for human foibles. Which is ironic, because in many cases, I haven’t forgiven myself, and I write about these things as a kind of penance.
Anyway, while I love the sociological, strategic and storytelling aspects of branding – and frankly, it pays the bills pretty well, too – I am trying to make more room to write what I think I’m supposed to be writing, to communicate things that can inspire others through laughter, recognition or sheer “at least I’m not that fucked up”-ness.
Thank you for visiting.
